Sadly, my potatoes caught a disease of some sort and did not produce very well.

Believing that to be a fluke, I am trying again this year. My main lesson was that I have to keep e dirt light or it makes working with the tubs a two man job.

I have heard of some gardeners having luck using some shredded newspapers or straw as part of the growing medium. I believe I am going in that direction.

how did these turn out for you at the end of the season? did you just flip the box upside down to get potatoes out?

also, have you heard of growing potatoes in straw? I’m wondering if instead of piling on compost, piling on straw would do the same thing. maybe not.

I somehow found your website, I wish to thank you tremendously for all the information that you freely gave, especially the excel idea. I want to try to square foot garden this year. I think I can promote a lot of interest here in Little Rock, I applaud your enthusium and willingness to share.

They are great. You can try a small garden later in the summer. Spinach does great as a second crop. Just plant after the hottest weeks pass.

I like this! I am so using it! In the process of planning my first garden in a new home–we bought a yard–they threw in the house! Hoping to plant on the long weekend(doesn’t everyone in my area do that?) Better get shakin and plan this thing so there are no mistakes or surprises! Thanks so much for sharing!

LOL. I will see if the next spreadsheet can answer the question about the Starbucks hottie.

I think I might make a beta 2 in Excel, but after that I will probably make an application.

I don’t think this is an acceptable solution. It only answers 2 out of 5 questions and one of them isn’t how to get the chick at starbucks. Plus the boxes aren’t square. I am trying to plan my SQUARE foot garden. The rectangles are throwing off all my planning.

With that said, It really looks helpdful, let me know if you need any help with the excel.
